Coagulation Controllers: Spain Introduced to CoagSense Technology

Working with our Spanish distributor, Izasa Scientific, Pi recently sent a coagulation controller (CoagSense) to Valencia in Spain. This marks the first of hopefully many of Pi’s coagulation controllers being supplied to Spain!

The aim of this project was to optimise the coagulation control of a drinking water plant. After a visit to the site, the sales and engineering team at Pi designed a bespoke system that was best suited to the needs of the drinking water plant.

Custom built to meet the customers needs, this double backboard system seamlessly integrated with the site PLC via Modbus. A streaming current monitor (StreamerSense Rugged), pH sensor with automatic cleaning and the specialist CoagSense firmware all contributed to this coagulation control system.

Coagulation Controller

The custom built system featuring a streaming current monitor, pH sensor with AutoClean and CRIUS®4.0 controller with CoagSense firmware.

The coagulation controller (CoagSense) from Pi is an integrated controller that accepts multiple inputs from appropriate parameters. One parameter is streaming current. Streaming current monitors use streaming current measurements, similar to  Zeta Potential, to maintain proper electrokinetic charge (ionic and colloidal) in coagulation control applications such as this one. Almost all coagulants operate at an optimum pH, therefore whilst the StreamerSense measures charge, the pH sensor can be used to ensure the maintenance of optimum conditions for coagulation. This process is controlled by the CRIUS®4.0, ensuring that the coagulant is dosed as efficiently and economically as possible.

This unique coagulation control system will provide valuable data for site staff, to help provide high quality drinking water for the people of Valencia.
