Instrument Controller Replaced After a Decade of Polymer Dosing Control

Around 10 years ago Pi supplied Aqua Operations with a Version 2 CRONOS® instrument controller to monitor and control the polymer dosing at a food and beverage manufacturing site.

 Polymers are dosed so that the solids in the water ‘clump’ together for easier removal, producing clean water that can be recycled back into the process.

Recently, a Pi service engineer visited this site as the customer had decided that after a decade of near perfect monitoring and control, they were ready to upgrade to the latest version of the CRONOS® controller.

The version 3 CRONOS® is available with:

• Up to 2 sensor inputs
• Up to 8 relay outputs and 2 analogue outputs
• PID control
• Compatibility with more than 15 different sensors
• Data logging functions

The new CRONOS® was installed and commissioned on site. Like most of Pi’s products, this will hopefully continue to monitor and control the polymer dosing process for another 10 years.
