Online Alkalinity Protecting the Distribution Network

The AlkaSense® online total alkalinity monitor from Pi has lots of potential applications in the water treatment industry. One of these is to monitor (and control) the dosing of an alkali at the end of a treatment process to raise alkalinity levels (and pH) in order to reduce corrosion in the distribution network.
Traditionally this would have been a manual process requiring an operator to take samples and determine the total alkalinity on a test kit.
Existing online total alkalinity analysers have proven to be inaccurate and difficult to service, calibrate and maintain.
Process Instruments recently launched the AlkaSense®, a highly innovative instrument that uses conductivity rather than the more traditional pH to determine total alkalinity. Click here to learn more.

An AlkaSense® has been installed at a water treatment works in the British Isles and has been checked using a handheld device by the operator to build confidence in this new technology. Please see the data above. Nothing builds confidence quite like the near perfect R2 value calculated from this AlkaSense® data.
