Residual Chlorine Analyser Delivers Accurate and Reliable Monitoring of Air Conditioning Water

During a recent conversation with Pi’s China sales team, a customer in Hong Kong provided positive feedback on Pi’s HaloSense residual chlorine analyser in a demanding industrial water treatment application. The system, supplied and supported by Pi’s China office, provides continuous free chlorine monitoring in the air conditioning recirculating water of a landmark commercial building located near the Avenue of Stars in Hong Kong.

The installation features a CRONOS® HaloSense chlorine measurement system, equipped with Pi’s unique AutoFlush automatic cleaning flow cell, designed to maintain sensor accuracy and stability even in water with high fouling potential. Pi’s amperometric residual chlorine analyser HaloSense provides precise and stable measurements of free chlorine without the need for reagents. This advanced sensor technology ensures long-term reliability and high measurement accuracy, even in challenging process conditions.

In this application, the recirculating cooling water contains suspended solids and other contaminants that would typically affect sensor performance and require frequent manual cleaning. The integration of the AutoFlush automatic cleaning system addresses these challenges by automatically flushing the flow cell at regular user defined intervals. This prevents sensor fouling and ensures consistent data quality, significantly reducing maintenance requirements and extending the operational life of the sensor. The result is a more robust and cost-effective chlorine measurement system with lower total lifecycle costs.

Accurate and responsive free chlorine monitoring is critical for air conditioning recirculating water systems, where maintaining effective disinfection is essential for operational efficiency and public safety. The customer highlighted the reliability and precision of the HaloSense system as key factors in optimising process control and chemical dosing. By delivering real-time data, the HaloSense analyser enables informed decision-making, improved process stability, and more efficient chlorine use.

This HaloSense system in Hong Kong demonstrates how Pi’s chlorine analysers and automatic cleaning technologies deliver accurate, low-maintenance, and cost-effective free chlorine monitoring even under challenging water quality conditions.
