Turbidity Sensor Commissioning and Training at Herefordshire Biogas Ltd

Pi’s online turbidity sensor, TurbSense®  is suitable for use with all potable, waste and most process waters, measuring turbidity within the range of 0.01-1000 NTU depending on the application. The TurbSense® is an extremely stable, accurate and low maintenance sensor. Due to the patented MutoLux® technology, calibration of the TurbSense® is never required because any drift is compensated for. This technology works by monitoring, controlling and adjusting the light output and consequently increasing accuracy by removing error from light source variability.

Process Instruments (Pi) recently visited Herefordshire Biogas Ltd, an animal waste company that turns sludge into solids via flocculation, to commission the CRONOS® controlled online turbidity meter (TurbSense®) and provide training to onsite staff.

Once installed, the service team at Pi commissioned two TurbSense® sensors, each with a CRONOS® controller, to ensure smooth turbidity monitoring.

Alongside commissioning, the service team delivered some training to the onsite staff. Key training subjects included:

• Setup and maintenance
• Understanding alarms
• Setting suitable parameters
• Diagnostic sensor information
